Group Presentation Reflection - Communication

1st presentation
The overall presentation was good, the video shows examples of different communication types. It also shows the positives and negatives of each type of communication and misunderstandings that could be develop from it.
The presentation slide on the other hand was not that good. Texts were too long and people wouldn’t bother reading it, or if they do they won’t have enough time to read it or text fonts are too small to be read.
In general it was still a good presentation as they provided good information about the topic.

2nd presentation
The form of the video was something new and interesting, they provided pretty good information although the text on the video were too long as well. But in general they did manage to explain different kinds of communications.

3rd presentation

The presentation was good, the animation used was really catchy and something that would get someones attention and not make them bored while watching but I think it was mostly focused on the process of their work instead of the topic “Communication”.

Week 6

Continued modelling the rest of the parts of the bucket that are a bit harder as there are more details to it.
Modeling parts of the bucket using the program inventor was really good, I did not have any program problems, maybe it was remembering how to use it is the only difficult thing about it. The biggest problem i encountered while modeling is figuring out the sizes of the parts as i was only basing it on the images supplied to us. I started of by sketching the main parts and then writing the sizes of the small details to it, like the holes on each part, how big the holes are and how far apart are they to each other to make it the same as the next part which will later on be connected to it to fit them on to each other.
After modeling the main parts i had to assemble them together, this is the hard part as i have to choose the right "constraints" to be use to make the part connect to each other and stay to the right position. Each part usually need 2 or more constraint to make them stay in the right place and prevent them to be moving around or rotating(for the parts that does not need rotation). For some parts i have to make an invisible plane cos they are on an angle or needs to offset.

After modeling all the parts I started assembling all the parts together.

Importing inventor assembled file into 3ds Max.

Group Presentation Reflection - Planning

1st presentation
The presentation was really good. Covered and explained the topic Planning very well. And the video was really good as well, it was fun and full of information at the same time. It shows that the presentation was well planned given a short period of time to do it.

2nd presentation
The presentation was informative. Covered a lot of things about the topic "Planning" but the video was too steady which made it a bit dull. But it was a good presentation considering the information they provided.

Week 5

After the site visit sizes are still not that clear so I had to sketch some drawings based on the photos taken by the group and photos supplied by the client and Russell on the course drive. It took time trying to figure out sizes comparing the photos together and getting the right proportion to make it look as close as i can to the real one.

I also started modelling the final one on inventor and tested if i can transfer it on 3ds max for texture.

Week 4

As the site visit was moved from last Friday to this coming Friday I made a trial model of the bucket based on the the researched photos using inventor. Practicing and watching tutorials about the software as I haven't used it in a long time to refresh my mind how to use it. I was also trying to make the bucket as close as i can do to the actual size.

Week 3

Since we haven't been to the site yet we started installing softwares needed like cryEngine and inventor. Also as a group we talked about about individual task and started researching about the site and some images of the buckets online while waiting for the site visit to study it and have a bit of idea on how it looks like.
This are some useful photos that i found researching:

Back Brief

BACK BRIEF AERIAL ROPEWAY IN A WORLD HERITAGE ENVIRONMENT

TEAM MEMBERS
Shaun Taylor
Eugelyn Corre
Reina Bautista
Jesharelah Yolola
Paul Chew
Roschelle Gonzales

OBJECTIVES
The aim of this project is to use technology to create an understanding of world heritage.

GOAL
Our goal is to recreate the world heritage site at Katoomba using sandbox powered by CryENGINE3.
We aim to use this technology to encourage people to empathize and value the world heritage site. We intend to undergo a site visit in order to understand from a primary perspective about the failure of the aerial ropeway at the site.

TASK
Site visit, take photos and collect data about the site and objects that lay in the site using the 1234D catch App.
Recreate the environment in CryENGINE in detail from the site visit
Each member will be given an area to detail and create on CryENGINE.
Model Objects from on site, from external source, “The Burning Mists of Time by J. Hammon, using 3D Studio Max, SketchUp, Rhino, Photoshop, Crazybump.
Apply detailed textures on models, export to CryENGINE, apply bumpmaps and adjust textures to maximise detail.
Explore the environment and create video clip to engage the client and audience about this world herritage site.

ROLES

Shaun – leader / CryENGINE environment modelling / Rhino

Eugelyn – CryENGINE / Photoshop / Crazybump, detailing models and textures.

Paul Chew – SketchUp Modelling and 3DS Max modelling / breakable objects

Reina – inventor modelling / 3DS Max / flow graph

      Roschelle – cryENGINE / 3Ds Max / 123Dcatch

      Jesharelah – CryENGINE / 3DS Max / CINEMA4 / Adobe Premier Pro
